Splatter is a playfull interactive art installation. The splattered blobs of color projected on a wall react to a paint brush by moving within the projected canvas surface, finally resting in a new pattern. Just like in a Rorschach test, the audience sees a different shape in each pattern. This installation was presented in an art show called Skrol at the Centre for Digital Media.
This project uses a projector, a Wii remote and infra-red light to interact with the shapes in the art piece. The set up for the Wii remote and infrared pens is well explained here. Since a Wii remote can sense upto 4 infrared inputs, I could make multiple brushes fitted with the infrared light. As a result, the audience are able to compete or collaborate by pulling the shapes towards them. Children, particularly, enjoyed this installation.
My Role: This was a self initiated project.
